Synopsis
Caught between a malevolent darkness and a ruthless warlord, Taine wants only to be left alone, but with power like his, that is only a dream.

Years after the events of Essence, the city is under new leadership. There is a war waging across the universe between opposing forces of Kardeia. Taine wants nothing to do with the war, but is closer to it than he would like to admit. When his power is discovered, he must decide whether to join the war or live on the run in a universe filled with shadows that kill.

It takes place several years after the events of “Essence”.
I am super excited to share this one with you because it offers a larger look into my universe. The “Enemy” and “Kardeia” in the story are huge parts of my universe and you get to see both of them in action here in a bigger way than you did in “Essence”.
I did sort of cave to peer pressure to write this. My intention was to leave “Essence” on its own, with that ending somewhat ambiguous and as an open ended question about my universe and what happens. But literally everyone I talked to asked about the sequel, so here it is. It may not be exactly what people had in mind, but that’s what I hope to always do: what people don’t have in mind.
Both this and “Essence” are meant to be teasers about my universe. They are intended to bring up questions about my universe, not answer them all, so expect to have questions at the end of it. Think of these as an intro to the larger projects I am working on.
