My name is Josiah Weber. I graduated from high school in 2015 and decided I hated school too much to continue. Instead, I jumped into writing, as well as doing some of my own education. An addiction to video games, movies, TV shows, etc. has kept me from advancing too quickly in the writing field, but it is also the source of my creativity. These stories spawned a love in my to write, or, more specifically, to create worlds and stories.

My main inspirations, especially early on, are Lord of the Rings and related works, the Inheritance Cycle and Star Wars. All three of these involve large, in-depth worlds that I love. These worlds ignited a love of worldbuilding in me. It started with playing games set in those universes with a friend. We made up our own storylines and characters to use. Eventually we began adding our own worlds to those universes and finding ways to connect them all. I also began writing, creating new worlds for each story but never really developing them.

That changed in 9th grade. Sometime in the first few minutes after finishing Inheritance by Christopher Paolini, an idea for a story popped into my head. That one sentence plot idea set me on a path to creating my future. That tiniest morsel of an idea grew into a trilogy-length idea that could only be set in a fantastic world. As I crafted that world, I became addicted to the process. I started wanting to create a world that could maybe be compared to Alagaesia, then I wanted a universe that could compete with Arda, then I wanted a universe that could be as detailed and varied as the Star Wars Expanded Universe. Starting from the point in time that is that original trilogy, I began creating histories and futures, some reaching out centuries. I added Science Fiction, I added modern times, I added fantastic and futuristic elements. I even found a way to incorporate much of what I had created during my childhood games with my friend. After a while I had fallen so in love with a universe that had grown so large that I decided that I would never leave it. I added to the futuristic portion of my universe in such a way that it would allow me to write anything I could ever want to write. Any genre and any storyline is available to me and I will never have to leave my own universe. I decided that I will be writing the history of my universe for my entire life. Everything I write, everything that makes it onto this site and into my books, fits into one universe with few if any exceptions.

Once I had a universe basically constructed, I had so many opportunities for stories. I had already started on some and planned others and I got bored with my usual style. I decided that I want to try many different structures and styles. This website is a sort of testing ground for that. You will be seeing an assortment of styles in the future. I have a whole list of ideas waiting for me to try, the first of which was an “episodic” story that I turned into the Drescation Tales. The Shadow War stories are where I am going to be testing many of my ideas and I welcome feedback on any and all of them.

I have also made the decision to be different. I am tired of seeing the same stories and the same “twists” and the same everything. While my first stories have been relatively clichéd I intend to get farther and farther from the norm. I want to take what people expect and turn it on end. It is my hope that my stories are unpredictable and exciting and that my characters are unique and break clichés. Hopefully I succeed at this and all of my readers enjoy it.

As of early 2018, I have two books drafted, a novella published on Kindle, a sequel for it drafted, another book or series partially planned and partially written, a Shadow War story drafted, 2 of them published on this website and another short story published here. That does not count the poems I’ve written or the countless ideas I have. My hope is to reach many people with these stories and bring a little entertainment to this world. I just have to actually sit down and write.

My personal life is not very exciting. I love to travel and have visited somewhere around 15-20 different countries (and New Zealand 3 times), but when I’m home I don’t do much beyond the addictions mentioned above. That and workout. I’ve been doing CrossFit for over 7 years and love it.
